- Instructor Tool: The Instructor tool is useful for you as a learner to go through the learning material of the chapter in a presentation format. This module will provide you a summary of the chapter that you have read in the pre-course readiness section. It will help you assimilate your knowledge of the chapter under discussion and will equip you better with the key terminology used in the Project Management Industry.
- Trainer in action: Once you have familiarized yourself with the reading material and have been through the presentations, it is recommended that you go through the videos of the chapter and listen to the explanation of the content which has been presented by our experts. This will help you have further clarity and get a firmer grip on the content for the chapter. At the end of this module, you should have mastered the knowledge of the topics presented in the chapter.
- Mind Map: The mind map for the chapter helps you further clarity on the topics by graphically showing you the flow of information from one to another and the Inputs, Outputs, Tools, and Techniques for each of the processes. It is recommended that you carefully study the mind maps for each chapter as this will provide you a broader view of the information and terminology used for the Project Management processes and better prepare you to take the PMP examination.

Not actually! Though the PMP Benefits are enticing, PMI Institute has rigorous PMO requirements. Since PMI follows stringent quality processes and has been maintaining the standard on the level of certification from 1969, there are definitely certain eligibility criteria.
To get the multitude of PMP benefits, you need to have the following prerequisites or PMP Certification requirements:
- Have a 4-year bachelor’s degree
- 35 hours of project management education
- 4500 hours of experience leading and directing projects
But, if you have a secondary degree or diploma, you can still avail the PMP benefits if you meet the following:
- Your secondary degree or high school diploma
- 35 hours of project management education
- 7500 hours of experience leading and directing projects

In the event of a failed audit, the certification fee (minus a processing fee) will be refunded. The Certification Department will take further action on a case-by-case basis. If you fail the PMP® application audit, the PMI® will deduct $100 from your application fee, and you will receive a refund of the remaining fees paid.
The PMI® allows a candidate to attempt the exam up to three times in one calendar year. Focused training programs will help give you the knowledge and experience to prepare for and pass the exam.
Once you have met the eligibility criteria, fill up the examination form. You need to create an account on the PMI® website to find the online application form under the “my PMI” section.
Once you have started with your online application, you can’t cancel it, but you can save it unfinished and edit any information you already entered. The application form remains open for 90 days. PMI will send you an email reminder so that you can complete your application form during that period. Once you submit the application, you will receive the acceptance confirmation within a week.
Below are the main parameters to be filled in the application form :
- Personal information (name, address, contact info, etc.)
- College/university degree
- Number of contact hours completed
- List of all the projects that count as project management experience
The online certification system can be used to:
- View your submitted application and update contact information
- View your exam eligibility status
- Download PMI audit forms
- Download exam report to check your result
- Apply and submit your payment to take/retake any PMI examination
- Submit your payment for certification renewal
- Download receipt
- Access your certification details
- View your listing on the Certification Registry
The standard method of PMI examinations is center-based testing (CBT). Paper-based testing (PBT) is also available under certain limited circumstances which are detailed in the “Examination Administration” section below.
The PMP examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, out of which 25 are pretest questions. These pretest questions do not affect the final score and are used to test the validity of future examination questions. All of the 200 questions are placed randomly throughout the exam.
- Total Questions: 200
- No. of Scored Questions: 175
- No. of Pretest Questions (Unscored): 25
- Allotted Examination Time: 4 hrs
This examination is preceded by a tutorial and followed by a survey. Both are optional and can take up to 15 minutes to complete. The time used to complete both the tutorial and survey are not included in the examination time of four hours.

Alternative testing options are available in the following instances:
- The distance to a CBT site is more than 240 km (150 miles)
- A CBT site is not available within the country of residence and traveling across country borders is prohibited/unduly burdensome
